GCSofUSA has been organizing The Stations of The Cross prayer meetings on Saturday night since its inception during every lent season. We get together at different home of one of the member of GCSofUSA. Normally the lent season falls between the cold months of February to April. This year we received a request and recommendation from one of the member, Johnson McLin to organize the Stations of the Cross prayer service out in open at the Station Walk located at The National Blue Army Shrine of our Lady of Fatima, Washington, NJ. The Stations walk where the 14 Stations of the Cross are similarly laid out on 10-foot wooden crosses.

So we decided to have it in the afternoon of Saturday April 06, 2019 at 1:00 PM. The weather was nice and 29 Adults and 7 children from 2 years to 85 years participated for the prayer service. It was very satisfying and blissful event. Thank you lord for we were able to manage.

After the spiritual feeding we went to a picnic area and had a test full food to feed our physical hunger.

We didn’t do video recording form beginning to finish but we connected several pieces of video and made one. Sorry it’s not a complete video but hope you will like it. Thanks.

GCSofUSA organized a group prayer meeting online through Facebook messenger – March 30, 2019. It was an innovative and unique attempt to organize the prayer meetings. GCSofUSA has been organizing The Stations of The Cross prayer meetings on Saturday night since its inception during every lent season. We get together at different home of one of the member of GCSofUSA. For some reason there was no family was able to host on the Saturday, March 30 2019. We were disappointed but God gave us an idea and on Friday night we discussed and decided to have an online meeting. We made an announcement on next day Saturday, March 30, 2019 around 12:25PM. We are pleased that we got an overwhelming response and we had 17 adults and two children participated from beginning to end and joined by 4 adults and two children later. Above all we had pregnant Angelina Rathod along with her to be born child who is ready to arrive to this world any day now. We used the social media in a positive manner and benefited from it. ... On a beautiful afternoon on Saturday, July 28, 2018 the members of Gujarati Catholic Samaj of USA were gathered at St Anthony of Padua Church in Union City, NJ. We were blessed to have two visiting priest from Gujarat to celebrate a Gujarati mass. Fr. Lawrence Martis was the main celebrant and Fr. Alex was co-celebrant. Fr. Lawrence delivered a very meaningful sermon during the mass. The mass started at 2:30PM and ended at 3:45. We were blessed

Fr. Alex explained his decision to give up the teaching job at big university in Pune and selecting a small tribal town to serve poor people and build a shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was in New City for 10 years and completed his PHD and decided to go back to homeland. He served as a professor at National Vocation Service Center, Pune, Maharastra for five years. Now he is at Kadvath in Pahadiya parish. The land is stony and uneven no water available. He has drilled the bore with the help of donation from Gujarati Catholic Samaj of USA. He was walking around two to five miles radius on daily basis so we provided fund for him to buy a motorcycle. He was very thankful to the members of GCSofUSA. He needs more help in order to complete his mission to build a shrine. We should try to help him out in his mission as he helped us all while he was here in New York.

Dear Friends,

Sundays are a holy day in Christianity, and Trinity Sunday is particularly holy.

Pope Gregory IX instituted Trinity Sunday in 828 CE. This day is notable for being the only major Christian festival that celebrates a doctrine of the church rather than an event in its sacred history. It is dedicated to the Christian belief in the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – and falls on the Sunday following Pentecost each year. The belief of one God in three elements is a distinctive of the Christian faith but the early church was plagued by contrary views. Trinity Sunday spread throughout the western church around the 14th century.

In some churches, the liturgical color is white on Trinity Sunday. Images of the Trinity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit depict that there are three elements of one God. The Trinity is sometimes symbolized by a triangular shape formed by three overlapping oval rings or loops, each featuring the one of the following images: the crown (father) within the top loop; the lamb (son) within the second loop (clockwise); and the dove (spirit) within the third loop (clockwise). Other shapes depicting the Trinity include Borromean rings and the triquetra.

The Borromean rings feature three overlapping round circles forming a triangular shape, and in the center, inside all the circles is the word "unitas". The Borromean rings are named after the crest of the Borromeo family in 15th-century Tuscany. The triquetra symbol uses shapes similar to one of the oldest Christian symbols. In the triquetra, the three equal arches of the circle express the equality of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The union of the arches represents the unity of the Godhead. Their continuous form symbolizes eternity. Their interwoven appearance denotes the indivisibility of the Trinity. In the center of the triquetra is an equilateral triangle, one of the most ancient Trinity symbols, and each pair of arches formed an ellipse, the symbol of God’s glory.

The 4th and final Rosary prayer service was held at Mr. Alex (Ashok) Rathod’s home on Saturday, May 26, 2018.

Dear Friends,

Pentecost (Whitsunday), with Christmas and Easter, ranks among the great feasts of Christianity. It commemorates not only the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and Disciples, but also the fruits and effects of that event: the completion of the work of redemption, the fullness of grace for the Church and its children, and the gift of faith for all nations.

For those who need a quick and basic understanding of what Pentecost Sunday is, below is listed 10 things you should know about the holiday.

1. Pentecost Sunday marks the day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles.

2. Pentecost Sunday occurs 50 days after Easter.

3. The Bible records the Pentecost in Acts 2:1-13.

4. Pentecost comes 10 days after the Ascension of Jesus Christ.

5. Pentecost is also known as "the birthday of the Church".

6. Pentecost fulfills Jesus' promise to send the "Counselor" and "Spirit of Truth" in John 16-5-15.

7. Pentecost launches the large-scale spreading of the Gospel after Jesus' ascension. Acts 2:41 records that after Peter spoke to the crowd after receiving the Holy Spirit, some 3,000 people were baptized.

8. The Pentecostal movement derives its name from the New Testament event in Acts 2.

9. Jews also celebrate Pentecost, but not for the same reason as Christians. The celebration by Jews of Pentecost is to observe God giving the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai 50 days after the Exodus. The Pentecost in Jewish tradition takes place 50 days after Passover.

10. In Western Churches, Pentecost is usually represented with the color red, which symbolizes the fire of the Holy Spirit.

The third Rosary prayer service was held at Mr. Amit Macwan’s home on Saturday, May 19, 2018.

Dear Friends,

Wish you all mothers a very Happy Mother’s day.

We all love our mother so dearly every moment of our life. But especially on this particular day each and every child praises his or her own mother in a special way. It is obvious, necessary and important. It is said in Upnishad: Be one to whom a Mother is as God, Be one to whom a Father is as God, Be one to whom a Teacher is as God, Be one to whom a Guest is as God.

So what is wrong when we praise Mother Mary the Mother of a savior living Lord Jesus Christ? When we pray to Mary we are not worshiping her, rather we are honoring her and asking for her intercession on our behalf — in fact, more than praying “to” her, we pray “with” Mary, asking her to pray with and for us. Please review the five simple facts to justify what we do:

1. God chose Mary to send our savior on earth - Out of all the ways that Jesus could have come to earth, why was Mary chosen? If Mary was important to God, shouldn’t she mean something to us?

2. Jesus performed His First Miracle at Mary’s Request – “O woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come.” (John 2:4). Our Lord decided that His time had now come. Don’t you think Jesus is trying to tell us something? Isn’t it probable that Jesus waited until Mary’s request, in order to show us her intercessory power? When we ask Mother Mary she requests to Jesus.

3. Jesus Gave Mary To John From The Cross - When Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing near, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. (John 19:26-27).

4. Jesus’ First Graces Were Given through Mary - After accepting God’s offer to become the Mother of the Savior, Mary traveled “in haste” to visit her relative, Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the child leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. (Luke 1:41). “For behold, when the voice of your greeting came to my ears, the child in my womb leaped for joy.” (Luke 1:44)

5. Our Prayers to Mary Are Spoken in the Language of Love – Please note that the rosary is a meditation on the life of Jesus. It begins with the Apostles creed. In The next prayer, the first part “Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you” comes straight from Luke 1:28. The next part is taken from Luke 1:42 “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus”. The last part of the Hail Mary prayer is simply asking Mary for to pray for us – “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen”.

The second Rosary prayer service was held at Mr. Ketan Christians home on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

Dear Friends,

May is the Month of Mother Mary. What is new this year?

This year we'll celebrate three Marian feast days during May. On May 13, we honor Our Lady of Fatima on the occasion in 1917 when Our Lady first appeared to three shepherd children in Portugal. This May, for the first time, thanks to Pope Francis, the Church will celebrate Mary's role as "Mother of the Church" on the Monday after Pentecost - this year it's May 21. Pope Francis added the memorial to the Roman Calendar to encourage growth in "the maternal sense of the Church" and in "genuine Marian piety." Then on May 31, we celebrate the feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary - when Mary heard that her elderly cousin, Elizabeth, was expecting a child, she hurried to her to help.

The first rosary prayer service was held at Mr. Raj Macwan’s home on Saturday, 05, 2018.

Dear Friends,

The fifth Stations of the Cross prayer service was held at Mr. Alex Rathod’s residence on Saturday, March 17, 2018. During the prayer service the Sunday Gospel reading was read from John 12:20-33.

Dying to Live – A Sermon on John 12:20-33 by Fr. Michael K. Marsh

“Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit. Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will preserve it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be.
The Father will honor whoever serves me.”

If we want to see Jesus then we must look death in the face. To the extent we refuse to acknowledge the reality of death, to the degree we avoid and deny death, we refuse to see Jesus. Really looking at, acknowledging and facing death is some of the most difficult work we ever do. It is, as Jesus describes, soul troubling. It shakes us to the core.

There is a temptation to want to skip over death and get to resurrection. So it is no coincidence that this week and last week the Church points us towards Holy Week and reminds us that death is the gateway to new life. Death comes first. Death is not always, however, physical. Sometimes it is spiritual or emotional. We die a thousand deaths every day. There are the deaths of relationships, marriages, hopes, dreams, careers, health, beliefs. Regardless of what it looks like, this is not the end. Resurrection is always hidden within death. There can be, however, no resurrection without a death.

To the extent we avoid death we avoid life. The degree to which we are afraid to die is the degree to which we are afraid to fully live. Every time we avoid and turn away from death we proclaim it stronger than God, more real than life, and the ultimate victor.

Dear Friends,

The fourth Stations of the Cross prayer service was held at Mr. Amit Macwan’s residence on Sunday, March 11, 2018. We remembered Late Mr. Hariharbhai Maneklal Dave and prayed for his eternal peace. During prayer the Sunday Gospel reading was read from John 3:14-21. Let’s emphasize on John 3:16.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.”

This is the core of Christianity: that God loved the world enough to come as Jesus, and to die for us, so that anyone who trusts in Him will be saved from sin. This is certainly the most well-known verse in the Bible. It is probably the best-known and most-memorized part of any holy text in human history. The verse is a one-sentence summary of the gospel, and the subject line of the entire Bible. John 3:16 also reflects another important aspect of the gospel: the essential idea is extremely clear, but there are layers of meaning and knowledge inside of it.

The opening phrase is traditionally translated as "God so loved the world that…" and is typically understood to mean, "God loved the world so much that…" There is nothing incorrect about that idea, but the actual phrase means "God loved the world in this way," with emphasis on what God did, more than why. Jesus is an expression of God's indescribable love for "the world," meaning all of mankind (1 John 4:9–10).

The phrase translated as "One and Only Son," or "only begotten Son" uses the Greek word monogenes. This is a very precise word, and one which John uses in other places in this gospel (John 1:14; John 1:18; John 3:18). While the English term "begotten" often makes people think of biology, monogenes does not imply it. The word literally means something of the exact same "stuff." In other words, the Son is of exactly the same nature as God the Father. This makes John 3:16 an important part of proving the biblical concept of the Trinity.

The life offered to those who believe in Christ is "eternal," from a Greek word meaning "never ending." The alternative to life in Christ is destruction: to "perish." Verse 16 and 17 explain that the purpose of sending Jesus was our salvation, but verse 18 reminds us that those who don't believe are condemned. There is no question that, according to the Bible, people can be saved only through faith in Jesus.

There were more attendees including visiting friends from India Mr. Cornelius (Kanubai) Chauhan and his daughter Johnny. During the meeting we heard the gospel reading about “Ten Commandments”.

3. You shall not take the name of the LORD, your God, in vain. - PLACING PRIORITY, COMPLETE CONVICTION
